The Post Office Girl by Steven Zweig
My number five was the post office girl by Steven Zweig, which is a it's almost it's almost more of a novella. It's about this poor woman who lives in post war Poland and she and her mother is a Austrian writer from like that from the World War II era. The scenes in the hotel are incredible and Wes Anderson names this book as one of his influences when he made the grandiose hotel. And then darker than the second half of the novel is her coping with her return to her normal life after this magical week is over.
