The Nature of Pain Relief Is Complex and Cloudy
There isn't level one evidence to suggest that we couldn't long term change the the biology through manual therapy. We can't prevent them from having another flare up, but what that patient has had in the past is experience of symptom relief. These are the ones that I find myself quite rarely instigating something to help them with their pain. Why not just say take a paracetamol, give it time. If they know it's going to get better then you've got to carry on reinforcing the message.
