Is There a Future for Metaphysics?
i think there was a time when er metaphysics was under attack from people thought you couldn't make overall claims about the nature of the world, r and our relationship to it. I don't think they'de a description of some ultimate reality. They are not descriptions of stuff out there. They are tools help us intervene. And so in an overall way, yes, i think we should be building metaphysical stories about our overall situation. In fact, i don't think we can avoid doing that. But i think we have to give up the idea that any one of them might uncover the ultimate truth of how things are.
