Are You Reluctant to Second Guess Your First Answer?

Being agreeable and wanting to be seen as able are only two of the drivers behind our reluctance to second guess ourselves. Another source of the problem has to do with a popular notion about the risks of changing one's mind. A lot of times, intuition is just subconscious pattern recognition. And so you don't want to trust your gut. You want to test your gut. Even when you tell people about this evidence, they are still reluctant to rethink their first answer.
