The History of the UX Profession

In this post Jacob goes through the history of the UX profession. Starting as he does in the 50s and making projections about it until around 2050. The term user experience basically didn't exist before 1993 when Don Norman started using it for his group at Apple Computer. So looking back to 1950 you've got to be looking at other aspects of human computer interaction and design.
