Riverside hospital was designed by renowned architect james renwick in a gothic revi style. The new riverside hospital opened in 18 85 and was a radical transformation for north brother island with an appearance almost of a college campus, according to the new york times. And then in the 19 fifties, this building was entirely abandoned, and its ruins remain standing to this day.
