The Ripple vs. SEC Case Could Set Stage for Crypto Industry
The SEC sued Ripple a few years ago on grounds that it sold an unregistered security. Today, a US district judge ruled that sales of the cryptocurrency to sophisticated investors were not illegal. If other courts follow in the wake of today's decision declaring the cryptocurrencies are not securities, it could undercut the SEC's case.
