The Golden Age of Black TV

Family Matters debuted on ABC in September 1989. At the time, nobody predicted it would become one of the longest-running black sitcoms. It was actually a spin-off from the popular 80s sitcom Perfect Strangers. In Living Color caused TV networks to start looking for more black programming.
