00:00

Introduction

In 18 96, missus caroline astor moved into a colossal new french chateau on fifth avenue. In its place rises an even grander, more exceptional building that might have flumixed old caroline. The temple is the home of congregation emmanuel, new york's very first reformed jewish congregation. Over 175 years old, their story is bonded to the synagogue itself. Along a row of brightly colored stained glass windows are depictions of the congregation's prior homes in New York City.
