The Dead Donor Rule

The societal consensus is that we don't want to harvest organs from patients that are not dead. Well if we haven't waited for auto resuscitation and we're actively killing the brain, I would argue that clearly we're concerned that the patient isn't dead. And so to me, that seems a pretty clear violation of the dead donor rule. The other thing is, sure, as we mentioned before, you know, when these patients are deprived from, you know,. oxygen to the brain and the brain is not dead, that means they also could have phenomenal consciousness. That's definitely harming the patient.
