When we find a causal explanation for something, we know why it is the way it is. It's possible to have an explanation that isn't an ultimate explanation. If you explain one thing in terms of a second thing, then you seek an explanation of that second thing. The material will also figure into discussions of the existence of God a few sessions from now.
