Also in the odyssey, sylla and carybdus, sisters who were cursed to be ugly as punishment for their misdeeds. The sirens seemed to originate after the greeks had contact with eastern art. They unsuccessfully challenged the muses, and the muses being the nine greek goddesses of various arts.
