The rates of positivity for uncomplicated cellulitis are even lower than the rates of bacteriumia in community acquired pneumonia. In these cases, it will sometimes change your management, but it's so uncommon that we really don't recommend doing a blood culture. If you have a purulent cellulitis, you should try to culture that. Even if you are able to drain the abscess, there are good studies showing that five days of antibiotics can decrease relapse.
