Can You Write a Programming Language That Doesn't Use YAML or JSON?

The language was designed to be a language that lets you replace things like YAML and JSON for configuration files, where you want actually the power of being able to write functions. But literally just like I want to spit out a configuration, like a static configuration file. Gabriela wrote something about that. Her design goal in creating the language was I want to have functions and be able to reuse code and combine things together.
