Kalkonnen got frustrated at the ridiculous suggestions that were being made and said, You want a stupid name? How's about this? Jefferson airplane? He said in his autobiography, it was one of those rare moments when everyone in the band agreed. For their early rehearsals and gigs, they were performing almost entirely cover versions of blues and folk songs. The first member to go was Jerry Pellequin, for both musical and personal reasons. They also hired a press agent, their friend Bill Thompson. Record labels started sniffing around the group immediately as a result of this coverage.
