The Importance of Making Decisions Together
It might be tempting to say, ice cream is off limits. Youre outlawing ice cream. Thits no tolerance policy is attractive because it directly follows the outcome and it's easy to implement. We never have to weigh that decision again. It's kind of binary decisions. They are satisfying to our brains, but they're not always the most practical solution. Choosing not to eat ice cream one time is not going to improve your health in the long run. If you go too wide, the context becomes nearly impossible to calculate. Batching your decisions and weighing them against each other allows you to push and pull.
