The bill that was passed to the Lok Sabha a couple of days ago is the fourth attempt at getting it right. There's hardly any legal jargon that will make you want to tear your hair out. The basic rules here are simple. When someone wants your data, they need to tell you exactly what you're using it for. And then they must seek your consent before collecting and processing such data. They can't use the data any way they like. If a person wants the data to be erased at some point, it should be easy to do so. No question asked.
