This week Dr. Kristy Whaley is back on the podcast to talk about her new book, "Wounded Images: Revisioning the Imago Dei through a Reading of Jean Rhys's Interwar Novels". Kristy walks us through deconstructing traditional models of the Imago Dei in search of a more inclusive understanding. She brings literature into conversation with Theology to help shine light on some important questions. She also brings in the critiques of both Feminist and Womanist scholars. This ultimately leads to a reconstructing of the Imago Dei that centers trauma, wounds, and a non-contrastive transcendence. Could it be that it is not how we are perfect, but rather through our risks, wounds, and grief that we connect with the Divine? Enjoy!
