The Rise and Fall of the Student Movement in Japan in the 1960s
Japan's student movement in the 1960s was briefly also a major force. It reflected both tensions in Japan itself and a sort of broader youth rebellion. But one thing we have not spent that much time on specifically is Japan's student movement, which flaming out into its current substantially reduced form. We should probably remind ourselves what the hell is even going on in Japan in the 60s - to start first by talking about the US-Japan Mutual Security Treaty.
