The New York Times Announced It Would Now Accept Ads for NC-17 Films
Henry and June was the first film to be given an NC-17 rating. Critics were disappointed that Henry and June wasn't as erotic as its predecessor, unbearable lightness of being. The New York Times announced it would now accept ads for any MPAA-rated film, including NC-17s. Most of the TV networks agreed that they would accept ads, too, but only to be run late at night after prime time.
