What Is the Difference Between Speculative and Practical Science?
Aquinas believes reality is real, that we can have official, formal, certain causal knowledge which begins in sense perception. Once you have that formalization and the knowledge that you have about reality has certainty and is grounded in causes, that's when you have science. Now there are two types of science, two types of knowledge that humans can have that are certain and that are robust. They are speculative, speculative science and then there's practical science.
