The Role of State Religion in the Making of Ethno-Nationalism in the Philippines
I've been thinking about the role of state religion and state spirituality in the making of sort of these you know conservatism and fascism and what have you. And I'm thinking about the place of Filipino labor export right especially during the 70s and the 80s, and what that does not just to global industries like petro capital but also within the Filipino community itself. It is no coincidence that the rise of labor exported the Philippines and the world coincides with the rise of a Christian nationalist far right in the 1980s this is also the same set of years where organizations like couples for Christ takes off.
