The Importance of Fulfilling One's Desires
The way that we define the human being actually has implications downstream for our conception of what rights they're entitled to and their capacities for action. If there is no afterlife, if you don't believe that there is heaven and hell or judgment or a God or anything like that, this is really the only shot you have. And so it creates an imperative that, well, you know, you better live life to the fullest or else you're just kind of a fool.
