American National Identity - America Is an Idea

i'm all in favor of the creedl nation. You know, american national identity when the country was founded, was much more limited than that. It really did have a religious component, and it had an ethnic component, and, no, quite frankly, a racial and gender component too. And i my view, you actually worked your way towards a creedal nation by the time you got through the civil rights era in the 19 sixties. So i've got a big personal stake in thinking that frank just isn't aside, but not really side, because it's so important.
