Christianity has this sort of ungrounded overconfidence in knowing what the end of history looks like, and then zero investment in the actual unfurling and unfolding of history. It's such a fundamentally uncatholic way of thinking about history, because it basically refuses to believe Jesus promised that the spirit would continue to guide us into all truth across time. But both of them characterized by a kind of hubris that I think becomes a bit dangerous.
