Some people are able to get absorbed in a piece of music, but they may not get absorbed in literature just because that's how their people are made differently. He says someone could be extremely sophisticated in their taste in music. But they might have a kind of primitive view of poetry. It's actually somewhat true of Lewis himself. He had an incredibly in depth response to literature, but they say the paintings in his rooms and at the kiln's were very pedestrian. And he really wasn't that well versed in music.
