The culture of companies in the Silicon Valley currently is such that all of them treat user data as absolutely sacred. Anyone needing to access data even remotely has to jump through an impossible number of hoops. In our case, at least, you can actually trust and verify because you can see that what runs on your thing is what you're looking at in the source code. So there's a little bit of anacy part of a video conference which makes it slightly different than other chat clients.
