Ten years ago the conversations we were having about functional versus mutation were seemed as novel. Now it's quite common. I think that even in languages that are not primarily functional, the emphasis on a functional approach is widespread. We certainly seen a lot of the closure ideas incorporated in the JavaScript community. And that's not just because David Nolan is so charismatic, but because they work. So I'm more hopeful. I can't solve the social problems, but I think we can make tools and make examples that make, again, doing the right thing more straightforward.
