The Mertals Plantation: A Ghost Story
It is now said that as many as six others were killed in the house. Louis Sterling's oldest son was claimed to have been stabbed death in the home over a gambling debt. Other ghost stories and legends at the Mertals Plantation would be three union soldiers who allegedly broke in and attempted to loot the place. In 1927, another alleged murder, a caretaker in the house was killed during a robbery.
