Are You Convinced About the Label Evangelical?

i don't like using the word 'evangelical' because it's so misunderstood in our context. But i am convicted by the fact that the label evangelical is not an american identity. It is a global identity. And there are evangelicals all around the world who hold to the historic, theological definition of the word and they still see it as a positive identity. So on one level, depending on my context, i won't use it because the person who hears it is going to misunderstand what i mean.
