The Rule of Law in the Kingdom of the Nineteenth Century
The rule of law is a purely western concept found nowhere in china or he moslem world. Except for canon law, applied only within the church itself. The vast majority of legal disputes revolved around determinations of custom. A major fault line on the right recently developed is whether the modern order is redeemable at all. i place them as a sub group of what i call augustins who take a dim view of democracy and atomized liberty.
