The problems for Germany's forests started back in the 1980s when acid rain contaminated with pollution from cars and factories caused trees to die. Trees improve with regulation, but Nicole says some pollutants still remain in the soil. And now there's the problem of drought. So are we talking about climate change here? Yes of course. The number of drought years is increasing over the last decades. We are seeing that it's a serious problem. If we have one rain in a year, it will not help.
