A Memoir of the Mount Hood Disaster
The 19 86 mount hood tragedy was the second worst alpine disaster in the history of north america. It claimed nine lives, tom goman, mary horwell, tasha amy, richard hayder, allison litzenburger, susan mc lave aaron o'leary, eric sandwick and patrick mc ginnis. After the tragedy, oregan episcopal school suspended its base camp, outdoor programme and commissioned an estimation to determine what went wrong. That july, experts noted that goman was probably suffering from the effects of hypothermia, and this may have effected his decision making abilities.
