Evolutionary Spirituality and Narcissism

The idea of hierarchy is basic to Western civilization as you say. It's there in Plato. I am more realized than you. It's, you know, even the idea that I'm a host of the God. So this goes back to the idea of the divine hierarchy which you get in Western mysticism. But evolutionary spirituality has a greater tendency to that kind of elitism and narcissism for this reason Christians think they might be better than a non-Christian because they follow a certain kind of teaching whilst others don't. Same with Muslims. I am better than you because I obey Muhammad's law and you don't. And then you can see that can play out in some dangerous ways
