There's a number of jurisdictions now, maybe 18. When I changed my gender marker on my driver's license, I didn't have to give them anything. And then there were these cases where these courts would rule that for the purposes of marriage, this trans woman who was married to a cis man was actually a man and the marriage was invalid. But when it comes to being tracked in terms of identity documents, policies have always been much more easy to change.
