Gregory rasputon was a famous Russian religious figure. He visited saint petersburg in the late 1800s and became known for his sermons on love and suffering. His followers included many women who had given up hope of finding happiness through medicine or religion. They saw something new looking back at them when they came face-to-face with him, says historian David Perry.
