The Beetle Larvae
Larva of the timber beetle has amazing ability for cutting and destroying huge quantities of timber. Inspired by jaws of this larva, joe cox went on to design a cutting chain for saws based on exactly this type of action. The new chains were hook shaped chisels that would bite into the wood and essentially carve away chips. It also just screams protein.
