So variables are a form of abstraction, is that example? Yes, exactly. So variable, you'll note, can't be absent. You can't ignore the fact that it needs to have some value. But it could be any value. It stands for absolutely any value of a particular type,. A value that fits that sort of whole in the shape thi interesting example. One plus two is already pretty abstract; we're not specifying one of what or two of what. We're not counting a specific thing, but just the number itself.
