The History of the Hittites in Cyprus

The Hittite Empire was in terrible trouble and this is highlighted by pleas from the people of Ugarit to the Cypriots for help. The reason for the Hittite absence is because they had bigger problems closer to home with their own heartlands in serious jeopardy. There were certainly migrations going on during late Bronze Age collapse but there is no archaeological evidence of a biblical Jewish exodus. We do know that the Hebrew tribes stayed reasonably close to one another as described in the book of Judges in the Hebrew Bible.
