Migrations are pretty common, or at least we notice them. People talk about birds moving will the beasts moving, the monarch. The situation with the sadians is surprising, because they are moving towards habitat that doesn't seem to be suitable for them. It's been known for a long time that the sardine run needs to be triggered by cold water apwelling on the south east coast so that it's stead of the eastern portion of the warm temperate range. Our finding that these are west coast sardines now explains why they're doing this.
