The Field of Creativity

In 1957, Abraham Maslow was invited to give a speech at the U.S. Army Engineer School at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. He told officers they would need to get in touch with their unconscious and be more creative. What Maslow is speaking to is generally known as the field of creativity studies. In the American post-war boom, everyone was attempting to theorize new and exciting ways to expand production. Creativity as a field of study offered psychiatric practices the fordest off-ramp modern production required.
