The Secret Bombing of Cambodia

Kissinger and his military aide, Alexander Haig came up with the idea for the secret bombing of Cambodia one month after Nixon had taken office. They feared that there would be a public backlash if they tried to expand the war publicly,. And they knew that Congress would never approve bombing a neutral country. It was kept secret from the American people, from Congress and even top Pentagon officials weren't read into this. The New York Times came onto the story in 1969 but the White House just denied it.
