The Office of Financial Research has a mandate from Congress to collect climate risk data. But how do you know the value of shipping companies in the event that the oceans get warmer? Or if there's an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, what does that do to the various supplier and customer chains that impact different companies? This gets back to the idea of metadata. The OFR would come in as a data repository of supporting inputs for that kind of climate risk methodology.
