As we transfer money, the U.S. is also transferring money from taxpayers of the future to taxpayers of today. What they're really talking about is the welfare state broadly construed and this idea of transfer. In terms of socialism, the United States is actually the same as or more socialistic than those two countries Bernie Sanders points to.
