Director Louis Littari said the idea of the DeLorean started as a joke when fans began speculating about the possibility of time travel in the 10th fast saga film. Production got the idea to slip a DeLorean into the movie as a little nod to the fans time travel speculation. The plot twist that Alan Richardson, his character is now, you know, he's also a bad guy means we have two Aquaman because Alan Richardson was Aquaman on Smallville.
