The Challenges to Improve Energy Access in South Africa
South Africa's electricity market is dominated by Eskom, which is responsible for around 87% of the country's energy supply. Independent power producers account for a fairly small share of the countries installed capacity and generation. Its coal power plants have an average age of over 40 years. The company has been investing in new capacity, but construction of a duping facility have been subject to delays.
