The Concept of RV PA Coupling Explained

The RV has evolved to receive blood from a low-pressure venous system. As such, the RV handles volume loads, which is preload, much better than pressure as afterload. Each of these insults can affect the RV acutely or chronically. A preload in the acute setting likely is not sufficient to cause RV failure. But we'll find out that's very different in chronic RV failure.
