Is There a Central Bank Digital Currency?
The Federal Reserve and its most recent paper on this topic reported out what is known as Project Hamilton which is the Boston Fed's particular experiment looking at the technological capabilities necessary to have a central bank digital currency. But where I think we should be very concerned societally and I think it's candidly anti-democratic is when the central bank ultimately gets all the way down to the retail level of transaction engagement and having digital wallets. The boundary of where does a free society want the public sector involved in money and their financial lives are pretty clear that we just don't want these innovations at the retail level.
