The Importance of Forcibly Removed Children

At the age of 10 and a half, which is the same year that the then Prime Minister Kevin Rudd apologised to First Nations members. I was forcibly removed from my family, my community and subject to the family policing system. The primary root cause of this is the racism and violence of this nation that runs deep in that state system. And so when I think of the apology in 2008 and how that apology was to that root, was to the direct individuals and families and communities impacted. We need to honour that in its token because I know many members of the stolen generation hold that apology really close to their heart and that needs to be honoured for their experience and their pain.
