The Mad Pride Movement Is Trying to Reappropriate the Label and the Concept of Madness

The Mad Pride movement is really reappropriating the label and concept of madness. It's trying to rethink madness outside of medical, uh, context altogether. Even in the 1960s, when people look at madness as an intelligible or a coherent or purposeful response to their life issues, that was one way of questioning the authority of medicine.
